Prompt pet care for non-emergency situations.

Understanding the difference between urgent and emergency care can be crucial for your pet’s health. At Small Animal Emergency Hospital of Westfield, our pet urgent care services are designed to handle situations requiring immediate attention but not life-threatening emergencies. This distinction ensures that your pet gets the right level of care at the right time.

Pet Urgent Care vs Emergency Care

Urgent care is intended for conditions that, while not immediately life-threatening, still require attention within 24 hours to prevent further complications or discomfort. Pet emergency care, however, is reserved for life-threatening situations that demand immediate and intensive treatment. Our knowledgeable veterinary team will help determine whether your companion requires pet urgent care or emergency treatment, keeping resources available for pets in critical condition at Small Animal Emergency Hospital of Westfield.

When To Consider Urgent Care

Minor Cuts and Wounds:

Injuries that do not involve major bleeding or deep lacerations.

Mild to Moderate Vomiting or Diarrhea:

Repeated episodes that are concerning but not accompanied by severe symptoms like blood.

Skin Rashes and Infections:

Symptoms that are uncomfortable for your pet and need quick treatment to prevent worsening.

Eye or Ear Infections:

Issues that should be addressed promptly to avoid discomfort or long-term damage.

Limping or Minor Sprains:
